Does Your Property Insurance Include Homeowners Liability Insurance?
Saturday, July 25th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedWhen the majority of us think about the insurance that we get on our property we probably think about protecting ourselves in the event of something disastrous that happens. For example, we want to ensure that our insurance would cover us in event of a flood, fire or natural disaster. What a lot of people do not realize however is that there are other forms of policy that are available and we should make sure that that these are included in our insurance bundle.
Homeowners liability insurance is a good example of such a plan.
It is advisable to have this form of insurance because we are responsible for what goes on in our house. This type of liability insurance covers you in case something should happen to go wrong, either inside of your home or even outside of your property. For example, if a visitor has a fall at our home as a consequence of your negligence, or any other reason, you could well be held liable for that in a court of law. This form of insurance policy will provide you with cover in this situation.
Of all of the different types of insurance cover that you could have on your property this is probably the one that is most frequently omitted. However, nearly all mortgage companies will require you to have homeowners liability insurance as part of your policy in order to comply with the terms of service of your mortgage agreement. Of course, there are going to be different degrees of liability insurance cover available to homeowners so you will have to talk this over with your insurance agent in order to find out what is going to be best in your individual circumstances.
With homeowners liability insurance you will not only be protected at law if someone sues you when they are hurt at your home but will also have coverage for any medical expenses which may be incurred as a result of the injury. While we would all hope that instances like these will not arise it is clearly possible and so you want to ensure that you are covered just in case.
